The compact casing hides a fully professional processor charger with power bank function with a three-stage TC / CC / CV charging process. Charges 3.6 / 3.7V Li-ion cells of any capacity in size 18650 (unprotected). An intelligent built-in balancer controls the loading and unloading process. Thanks to it, the life of the links is significantly extended. The charger always starts by charging a more discharged cell. After reaching a similar level of charging, it starts charging both batteries simultaneously. The same happens when discharged. The charger starts discharging from a more charged cell, when the charge levels level up, it starts discharging both batteries at the same time (power bank function).
What is the TC / CC / CV charging method? It is a three-stage process of charging Li-ion cells that ensures that the cell is in good condition by charging with the right current at each stage and ending the charging process at the right time.
The individual stages of the TC / CC / CV process are:
• TC phase: cells discharged below 2.9V are "woken up" by a lower current.
• CC phase: after reaching 2.9V, the cell is charged with a constant current of 1A (for two cells) or 2A (for one cell).
• CV phase: when the cell is almost charged, the charger switches to charging with decreasing current until it reaches 4.2V on the cell. After reaching 4.2V, the charging process is completed - the battery is fully charged.
Batteries with a voltage of 4.1V or higher are considered charged by the charger. To fully charge such a battery, insert it into the charger before turning it on. Charged batteries left in the charger will undergo a natural self-discharge process. Charging will resume when the battery voltage drops below 4.1V.
The Xtar PB2 charger has the function of reactivating deeply discharged and 0V cells. Many chargers on the market are not able to charge such batteries. Here, the Xtar PB2 charger comes in handy , which in many cases allows you to 'save' such cells. Just insert a deeply discharged battery into the PB2 charger, as with normal charging - the charger will detect the discharged cell and attempt to reactivate it.
Warning! Cells discharged below a certain level are irreversibly damaged and may not be reactivated. Avoid too deep discharge of Li-ion batteries - this can lead to a significant reduction in their durability and capacity or lead to their total malfunction.
Chargers from other manufacturers can significantly increase the temperature of the cells being charged during charging. Excessive heating of the cells can cause their faster wear. When designing the PB2 charger, Xtar went a step further from the competition, solving this problem in a simple way: power supply from an external power supply was used. As a result, the temperature of the battery being charged in PB2 will increase by a maximum of 15 degrees.
Together with the charger Xtar PB2 we get a micro USB cable. The set does not include a power supply. To charge the charger, any charger with a micro USB cable is sufficient, e.g. from a telephone, or a USB socket or a computer with a free USB port. Recommended minimum charger power is 1A (1000mA). It is possible to use a charger with a lower power but in this case the charging time will be longer.
